We are seeking two Laboratory Technicians to join our team! If you have the following experience, we want to hear from YOU!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Overview of position – This job is 75% laboratory work in an analytical lab, and 25% office work. You will need to be able to stand for several hours and lift up to 40 lbs.
· Quality Control Testing – You will be expected to learn basic QC techniques and be able to efficiently get consistent, accurate results; you will routinely test our products for pH, specific gravity, and various chemical tracers. Experience with volumetric measurements, analytical balances, calibration of basic laboratory equipment, and familiarity with basic chemistry is preferred; attention to detail and manual dexterity are required.
· Analytical Water and Deposit Testing – You will be expected to learn basic colorimetric techniques and titrations to determine the concentration of a variety of analytes in water samples and solid deposits of unknown composition; you will accurately record your data and routinely communicate your findings to our customer base, as well as engage in basic interpretation of lab results. Experience with Hach water testing methods is preferred; the ability to accurately calculate and perform dilutions is required.
· Formulation and R&D Testing – You will be expected to formulate water-based chemical products by following a strict recipe and order of addition; you will monitor completed formulations over time for stability. You will occasionally research and develop new water treatment technologies using a gang stirrer, a shaker table, an HPLC, and other laboratory equipment.
· Additional Laboratory Needs – Secondary tasks include cleaning and measuring the weight difference of corrosion coupons, keeping a clean and organized laboratory environment, communicating with and sending products to our customers, and assisting with analytical testing and formulation of new products as necessary.
· Computer Experience – Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) is required. You will also be expected to learn your way around a variety of custom databases used to track, query, and report results.
· Laboratory Safety – You will wear safety glasses, close-toed shoes, and nitrile gloves while working in the lab. Due to COVID-19, a daily temperature check is required, and you will also be expected to wear a facemask when you are not at your workstation.
· ISO 9001:2015 certification – As a member of the ETI Quality Team, you will be thoroughly trained in the ISO 9001:2015 processes and procedures that pertain to your day-to-day job function. Experience working in ISO certified companies is preferred.
Experience desired: 2-3 years in laboratory and/or chemical production environment with analytical chemistry experience and customer service experience preferred. Experience with scientific and mathematical concepts required.
Personal Characteristics desired: Good verbal and written communicator, consistent and reliable worker, able to work independently with minimal direction, sunny disposition, eager to learn new skills, pro-active mindset, embraces new opportunities.
Minimum Education Required: High school or GED equivalent required. A 2- or 4-year degree in chemistry or a chemistry-related field, or other science-related education or degree beyond high school, is preferred.
